Excited about more than zucchinis!

by on March 21, 2010

“I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes” (Rom 1:16).

Mike Baines (4th Year) preached on this passage at the two morning services at St. Marks Sadleir this morning. He reminded us that we are under an obligation to preach the gospel, that we should be eager to preach it, and that we should not be ashamed of it.

Mop (a puppet) got really excited about a zucchini given to him that he tried to convince Rhonda (another puppet) to eat it. But Rhonda wasn’t interested, so Mop had to think of ways to convince Rhonda to eat it. Steve (a person) reminded us that we have something so much better than a zucchini – we have Jesus and we should be excited about telling everyone we know about how great Jesus is!

At Galaxy (Kids Church, Sunday Morning), we were expecting around 10 kids but about 25 showed up! Praise God! Thankfully we had prepared extra materials and so were not left short! The kids learnt from the Parable of the Lost Sheep that we are lost without Jesus and they made little sheep (with real Merino Wool) as a reminder.

Sunday afternoon the team is being split up with half of us going to Green Valley International Church and the other half staying here at St. Marks Sadleir. Pray for energy for all team members and that the team going to Green Valley would be able to teach something interesting and engaging for the children (many will have already been to church this morning). Pray that at St Marks we can get to know the congregation members well.

On Monday pray that Kate and Emma can prepare well for the Women’s Bible Study at 10am. Pray also for our preparation time as we prepare for the rest of the week. Monday night we are doing some training in sharing the gospel with Muslims. Please pray that we will learn much that will help us as we visit people to talk to them about Jesus.
