Chappo speaking at a seniors lunch event today

The Yagoona mission is now in full swing. Greg Anderson spoke from 2 Corinthians 5:11-15 at three Sunday services, urging us to give ourselves to God’s mission. It has been a thrill to meet believers here who are already doing that in Yagoona. Many have been a part of these churches for decades, and it’s inspiring to see their commitment to Christ through thick and thin.

We’ve had lots of opportunities at primary schools to share the message of Jesus. At Yagoona Public School, members of the team spoke of the different responses people have to Jesus, from the story of the criminals on the cross next to Jesus in Luke 23. Tom and Mark changed the lyrics of the Taylor Swift song ‘It’s a love story’ to tell the story of Zacchaeus’ eagerness to know Jesus.

Doorknocking has been a fruitful experience so far. Team members have spoken to locals from various religious backgrounds, using a survey that the church has developed. Several significant conversations have occurred with Muslim, Buddhist and agnostic people, and some have requested a second visit.

The most well-attended event so far has been a seniors lunch with John Chapman. He encouraged those present to make the most of their lives by trusting Jesus’ promises of eternal life.

Please pray that eyes would be opened to the greatness and goodness of Jesus here in Yagoona.

  1. yagoonamatata is the best title I’ve seen. Gold. So entirely feels like chappo, too!
