Men, meat and ministry
What do you get when you combine 80 hungry men, some antipasto platters, decadent desserts, a top-notch chef and a large hunk of meat?
You get a fantastic opportunity to share the gospel at a mens’ ministry event while having a great time being shown how to carve up different cuts of lamb at Blacktown Anglican Church.
Christ Church Blacktown engaged the skills of one of their parishoners Ian, who worked as a chef, to provide the basis for a fascinating men’s evangelistic night. Approximately a third who attended were friends of church members – praise God for the wonderful turn out!
After an antipasto platter, Ian enthralled the audience by taking apart the side of lamb. With the demonstration over, it was time for tasting – so in typical “here’s one we prepared earlier” fashion, we were treated to an incredible lamb roast. Dinner over, and Zac from the Moore College Team shared with us from Revelation and explained how Jesus was the Lamb of God who takes away our sin, and why this was news all us men needed to hear.
But that wasn’t the end of the night, as Blacktown also had a resident pastry chef, Lawrence, who had made up some amazing double-chocolate brownies and coffee parfours for dessert.
We give thanks to God for such a wonderfully organised and successful event (humanly speaking!) and pray that the gospel message might lead to some of those present to turn and trust in Jesus as their Passover Lamb.
